NYCxDesign 2018: Highlights
NYC x Design 2018
We recently had a blast running around New York for NYCxDESIGN , a week long annual celebration of all things design. The event attracts thousands of attendees and designers from across the globe, and showcases dozens of designers at events throughout the city's five boroughs. Below we are sharing some of our favorite finds from the different events. Enjoy!
Our first stop was Brooklyn Designs, hosted by the Brooklyn Museum. This event focuses on the local Brooklyn design community. We loved the punch of color & graphic patterns in the bathroom accessories from Quiet Town Home.
IC Design Festival
Next up was the pop up show from WantedDesign, held at the Terminal Stores on the west side of Chelsea. The event offers a 360-degree experience with innovative installations, memorable products, pop-up stores, interactive experiences, convivial lounges, thought-provoking student workshops, engaging discourse and more. We loved all the foliage found throughout the space!
Sight Unseen Offsite
We wandered over to Nolita to experience Sight Unseen's Offsite presentation, showcasing the newest in contemporary design. We loved the collaboration of installation artist Hannah Bigeleisen, and designer Steven Bukowski, as they teamed up with HotelTonight to create a 100 sq ft hotel room inspired by Op Art and '80s design.
While we were over in Nolita, we stopped by New Zeland company, Resident's pop up showroom, and loved everything we saw! Check out the lighting and chair below.
International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF)
We saved the best and biggest for last: ICFF. The International Contemporary Furniture Fair is a massive trade show for designers hosted at New York City's Javits Center, with over 36,000 interior designers, architects, retailers, representatives, distributors, facility managers, developers, manufacturers, store designers, and visual merchandisers. It took us a couple of days to get through everything, but it was time well spent, discovering new products, artists and companies.
Below are some of our top picks for textures, furniture, lighting, and overall presentation!
We loved the California cool vibe of Concrete Collaborative's presentation, showcasing modern terrazzo & concrete products. We loved the design of their booth, showcasing stylish concrete patterns & colors against a peach wall with a can't-miss neon sign.
Loving the color palette Brogliato Traverso presented with their Halo chairs.
Larose Guyon was the stand out lighting vendor for us. We love the unique, sculptural and dramatic look of each piece.
How pretty is the Eny Lee Parker booth? We loved the colors, and mix of materials, to create a chic and interesting monochromatic booth.
Other colorful booths that we enjoyed...
We had an amazing NYCxDesign week, can't wait for next year!
